Personally, I've noticed in the last few days that I don't actually trust 
syntax highlighting very much to tell me where the end of a complicated string 
literal is, particularly when it uses complex features like multiline strings, 
escapes, and interpolations. Xcode and TextMate *are* both usually pretty 
reliable, but not always, and I have a lot of experience with older text 
editors with worse highlighting. As a result, I seem to automatically dismiss 
"obviously wrong" highlighting.
