Software Development Engineer – Applications
Location:  Cupertino, California

Lab126 develops innovative consumer-centric product solutions. As part of the 
Applications Software Development Team, you will engage with an experienced 
cross-disciplinary staff to conceive, design, and bring to market innovative 
consumer products. You will work closely with an internal inter-disciplinary 
team, as well as outside partners to drive key aspects of product definition, 
execution, and test. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed 
within an open collaborative environment.

The Role:

The Software Engineer will provide technical leadership and also contribute to 
the definition, development, integration, test, documentation, and support of 
custom embedded Java software applications across multiple platforms.​ This 
hands-on position requires broad engineering competence and in-depth technical 
knowledge of embedded and application software development, as well as 
demonstrated experience successfully planning, organizing, and conducting 
software development projects in a dynamic environment.
·       Responsible for maintaining and improving our current set of User 
Interface applications including our Home Screen and Web Browser.
·       Responsible for the design and implementation of software solutions for 
new UI applications.
·       Preparation of technical requirements and software design 
specifications.
·       Instilling best practices for software development and documentation, 
making sure designs meet requirements, and delivering high quality work on 
tight schedules.

Requirements:
·       Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field.​ Masters Degree 
a plus.
·       3+ years of software development engineering experience with at least 
one year developing embedded applications.
·       1+ year of Mobile applications development using Java.
·       Embedded UI framework experience (Java AWT and Swing desired).
·       Superior design and architecture knowledge, as well as familiarity with 
object oriented design patterns.
·       Engineering process expertise, with a full understanding of Software 
Development Life Cycle (SDLC) principles.
·       Robust project planning/execution skills including estimating, 
scheduling, and executing on committed schedules.
·       Excellent judgment, organizational, and problem solving skills.
·       Embedded Linux experience a plus.
