you running it?

I would assume (from having a problem with the same discription)
that you
are mixing AWT & Swing. This is what happened to me. I could not get
the popup to show for my JComboBoxes no matter what I did. Come to find
out, some third party beans I was using were AWT based, and this
prevented my popup (a lightweight component) from being displayed on top
of the panel (which was heavy weight).
