Basically, if you dn’t know swing, they are good to see how things work.

Jbuilder is an excellent one.

Visual Caf was great for the awt 1.1 way back.

Unfortunately, they all build up messy, unneeded monster code so in the end, you can build more stream-lined stuff faster by hand.

They also mostly rely on GridBagLayouts for positioning and those are horrible and OS depended.

That depends how you handle the GUI builders...

Jdev and some other GUI builders are nice one but you will have to master buidling UI with these builders.

But yes what i do is mix up of both, use the GUI builders with a bit of code write up by myself, (as we can check UIs at the same time in UI editors) and that helps....

Thanks...

Note :: these are my views and differences to opinion always exist so leg pulling pls

Thanks to all of you for replying to my previous query
(! about building an GUI application for drawing UML
diagrams). The replies were really very helpful.

I have one more question....

Can GUI Builders be used for developing SWING based
GUI applications.

How useful and efficient are they?

Are the time-saving? or coding everything by hand will
be better?
