the problem turned out to be the same like in the following swinog post:

two receipients of the mass mail used probably pickup services, which
forward the mails to all receipients in the To: header and kept sending
each other the same mail, including all others in the To: header.

therefore, stopping one of the pickup services stops the loop. 

so better use Bcc: or tell your customers todo so :)
