You can do almost everything on your own using their services, like rebooting (in various ways, including hard reset), installing new linux images etc. If for some reason your server fails to get the network up after booting, you can use their "rescue system" (netboot from their servers) and fix everything yourself. The only time you really need their support is when the hardware fails or you need a remote console (LARA) installed to fix your bootloader (free!).
