Hello,

we have about 170 ciscos and it works fine. But the problems are most likely
with
how CDP is implemented. Sometimes the CDP ID used is the name, the serial
number or a combination of it. I compare this ID with the hostname, in order
to find out wich devices have been scanned already. I could only test with
components we have on our own network.

However it is interesting and if you (or anyone else)'re want to improve
this, you could send me the sysname and CDP MIB entries of the devices in
question:

Name 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.5.0
Neighbours 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.23.1.2.1.1
CDP Id 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.23.1.3.4.0

Thanks
-Remo

Hi Remo,

Thanks for this work, it looks like to be exactly the tool we need here.

I started to install it, I got loops very early during the discovery
process. But we have a "huge" network (>>1000 ciscos) do you think your
script suits such a size?

Regards,

David

Hi all,

I've updated the NEtwork DIscovery software at http://nedi.web.psi.ch

It's a complete rework and even allows modular reports and graphical export
of your network maps (also for further editing, though still very beta :)

You can play with the online simulation to get an idea of NeDi...

cheers
