We actually sometimes have problems with Voice Over IP on cable networks (voice skipping, bad quality)

Most of these problems are caused by either the underlaying network or oversaturated upstreams. Both of these problems are reaching into layer-1-topology problems which cannot be solved that easy.


OTOH if the problem really is on the IP-side there are special QoS extensions (mostly used for voice) in the DOCSIS-Specification but the operator has to configure them very carefully to make it work.
