Indeed it is all to familiar to scanner listeners. Both in the public and private sectors, technology has given too much of an advantage to the "haves" at the expense of the "have nots." Without oversight of government communications, records, and surveillance methods the public is put at risk of abuses. Though there will always be good rationale expressed as to why such means are necessary there is also no debate that it will be abused and at our expense. The price of freedom is eternal vigilance - timeless wisdom attributed to Thomas Jefferson. (It may, in fact, have been a paraphrase of Curran but who's quibbling?)
