If you remember our session on audio archiving two (maybe three?) years ago, you might find this interesting.
There actually is already a robust audio archive from the BBC available. When it first became available 2-3 years ago, some of the audio was blocked from non-UK IP addresses, but when I spent a few minutes on the site earlier this week, none of the audio I sampled was blocked. The existing archive is here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/archive/ Rob is right --- if you have an interest in Internet radio, a regular check of RAIN (see link below) is highly recommended.
