Sad news: USPS has announced they will stop selling International Reply Coupons (IRC's) in about five weeks. Stock up now before it's too late!

I always thought IRC's were a wonderful method of fostering physically mailed international communications. Unlike U.S. currency, IRC's featured beautiful artistic color intaglio art. So unamerican! The last IRC's I bought a few years ago had an excerpt of the hands from Michelangelo's 'Creation of Adam' (from the Vatican's Sistine Chapel) superimposed over the golden image of a postage stamp: http://www.dailydx.com/images/irc2007.jpg

Most of us on this list have mailed IRC's to international shortwave broadcasters to improve their chances of receiving some nice SWL swag from certain stations.

Reportedly, USPS will stop selling IRC's on January 27, 2013, but they'll continue honoring them into the foreseeable future. http://forums.qrz.com/showthread.php?371180-Outbound-International-Reply-Coupons-Discontinued

Most postal clerkbots I talk with nowadays say they've never heard of them, so you might have to talk with a USPS supervisor or postmaster to get any.
