I know that this doesn't have direct impact on the shortwave world but as
communications enthusiasts some here may find this interesting. 

 

WBT radio conducted an unusual digital audio test last weekend. They used
their entire channel for a digital COFDM digital transmission to obtain data
on system performance. The modulation used was the in band type of IBOC that
has been used for digital audio broadcasting in the Us. The difference was
that the analog transmission was shut off and the entire audio bandwidth was
dedicated to the digital signal compared to the hybrid practice being used
now of analog on the primary channel and digital on the first adjacent.

 

In the shortwave world experiments are being done with DRM as most of you
know. Iboc is a technological relative of DRM.
