Hello,
I do not mean any disrespect to the regulars who do the Scanner Forum,
but I just love the title of my presentation "Scanning Beyond the Scum".
It reminds me of the titles used for the sequels to 1970s disaster movies.
I appreciate the opportunity and hope to present a forum that meets Scum
standards. Being in many aspects of the radio hobby since the 1970s,
there were many topics I could present. Discussing changes of the past
year was a given.
As I worked on my presentation over the past weeks, it grew to add a
discussion about information sources that I regularly use for listening
above 30 MHz. There were paper guides, like Police Call and the
Scannermaster Guides, in the old days. Now there are mailing lists,
message forums, and various websites. Scanning above 30 MHz is mostly a
local activity, and what a person can hear depends on the radio and the
location. I like to explore the radio spectrum and see what is around me.
