Wow, what a story. Since this author and Lisa Spahr have written about similar subject matter, I wonder how wide spread the practice was among other shortwave listeners at the time. Perhaps we are greater "radio heros" than any of us imagined. Since there was no television at that time, shortwave listening was a popular past time and being a nation of immigrants we listened to broadcasts from the lands of our ancestors.
