I just found out my bag (and my radios) actually went all the way to
Helsinki, Finland. Apparently, they're on the way back to me, hopefully.
I have a tracking number...

I got an email this afternoon saying that they "just brought the
suitcase to a local UPS place and had them see if they could box it
and send it ASAP to New York." Which does sound good, but the email
didn't mention if it had actually been shipped from Germany yet. I
asked her to assure me that everything was still intact. Haven't heard
back yet. But I don't feel inclined to send back this suitcase I ended
up with (luckily I only have to send it to Philly and not to Germany)
until I get the tracking number for mine, and then confirm it.

First I want to say it was great to be back at the Winterfest, and an
honor to spend time with all of you. Camaraderie beyond compare.
Y'all know what I mean. I won't say much more. Thank you. That last
session of shortwave memories was really something.
Now the downside, at least for now. I already posted something about
his on facebook, where I guess I don't wanna say much more about it
there. But through a strange and unexpected turn of events at the end
of a bus out of Philadelphia, my bag is now in Germany, and I have a
very similar looking bag full of a stranger's sweaters and Doritos
and cookies, and my grand prize from the raffle and a number of
important items of mine ended up with somebody leaving the country.
The woman who bought the ticket for this German traveler has assured
me that my suitcase will be shipped back to me as soon as possible. I
hope that's true. But these are strangers, and this is a strange
situation. At this point, I don't know what to expect. Whatever
happens, I will post on this list and let you all know.
Meanwhile, thanks for the memories of this weekend. I'll say this -
Rich, and John, all of you, even if I've lost my prize, along with my
prized GE portable that was in that bag, and everything else, this
last weekend will remain a prized moment in time for me, despite all
that. Still, I'm sad (Remember the Yardbirds?), and frankly stressed.
But again thank you, for the good times.
