Hello, I am looking forward to listening to Matt Blaze's talk. Analysis of metadata for non-Federal digital and trunked radio systems can also aid in figuring out the radio system. On some systems, talkgroups and radio ids are assigned using a pattern.
The talk reminded me of a paper that talks about traffic analysis of P25. When I looked it up I found that Matt Blaze was one of the co-authors! https://pdfs.semanticscholar.org/8694/80a4f5e78750c61a4a34398ddf462f82c841.pdf The "Father" of traffic analysis is Gordon Welchman, who lead the Hut 6 team at Bletchley Park during WW2. They were able to figure out the German Radio Network without the ability to reading the encrypted Enigma messages. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYC21kJDftQ 73 Eric _______________________________________________ Swlfest mailing list [email protected] http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/swlfest To unsubscribe: Send an E-mail to [email protected]?subject=unsubscribe, or visit the URL shown above.
