I agree with you 101.28% :) It depends on your requirements and the configurations you used in the past. One of the intense milair listeners on RadioReference.com, who can not carry a tune, tried a BCD996T for milair. He went back to his old scanner because there are no channel numbers on the BCD996T. If an aircraft changes frequency on his old scanner, he just enters the channel number programmed with the new frequency and hits manual. The sensitivity was great on the 996 but it lacked his requirement. I am more likely to listen to non-Public Safety stuff on VHF/UHF so step sizes on 217/200 MHz and coverage of Aviation frequencies are more important to me. I was wondering why I did not hear Boston Fire dispatch after testing some updates and found they changed over to DPL. Likely it was months ago but I do not listen to BFD very often.
