Good news and bad news.

Unsubstantiated rumors are that the new Eton E 0.5* will have it. It'll
include HD radio, XM/Sirius, SW, LW, VHF/UHF APCO 25 trunktracking, a couple of
ET/alien communication modes, iPod and iPhone functionality (Steve Jobs will
convert to an SWL) and DirectTV HD with free decoder of all premium channels,
along with a microwave, Bass-O-Matic, radar detector/jammer and a laser
pointer. But wait, there's more. "It also slices, it dices, it makes Julianne
Fries...." AND, it will reveal the name of the true daddy of Billie Jo Spears'
(or whatever the heck her name is) baby.

The bad news? It'll cost $5,000,000 and be the size of a Winnebago. :-)

  * Unlike most companies, Eton has chosen to count down with their newer and
more advanced models. Thus, the successor to the E1 would seem to be the E0.5.

And what the heck are Julianne fries? The culinary equivalent to "rich
Corinthian leather"?

Note: For you youngsters out there, an explanation of "Bass-O-Matic", "it
slices, it dices" and "rich Corinthian leather" will be provided at a later
date. And you can explain to me the whole "Billie Jo Spears" thing. But since
we're not attracting youngsters to the hobby, it probably won't be a problem.
:-)

Using powerlines to distribute high-speed Internet makes as much sense as
using cable TV coax to distribute high voltage electrical power.

All they need to do is add SW bands to it and we have a winner.

  Are HD Radio iPods Next?

A report from ILOUNGE.COM claims APPLE plans a push for ITUNES TAGGING-ready,
HD Radio-equipped boomboxes with IPOD docks during the mid-JANUARY MACWORLD
EXPO event in SAN FRANCISCO. Announced in SEPTEMBER, ITUNES TAGGING is a new HD
RADIO feature designed to further boost ITUNES sales by allowing listeners to
"Tag" the currently playing song, automatically adding its information to a
"Tagged" playlist on the connected IPOD. When synced with a computer, the
playlist appears in ITUNES, making it easy to purchase tagged tracks from the
ITUNES STORE.

Since the announcement of ITUNES TAGGING, CBS RADIO, CLEAR CHANNEL, CUMULUS,
COX, ENTERCOM and GREATER MEDIA have all announced that they are in the process
of installing ITUNES TAGGING technology. "We are very pleased with the strong
support ITUNES TAGGING has received from the broadcast radio industry," said
APPLE VP/IPOD Product Marketing GREG JOSWIAK. "ITUNES TAGGING is a great way
for local broadcasters to jump into the digital music space and for consumers
to easily discover new music on their HD RADIO and enjoy it with ITUNES and
their IPOD."

According to a document on IBIQUITY’s website, "APPLE plans to offer
participating stations a revenue share for songs referred to and purchased on
ITUNES," adding extra incentive for HD RADIO broadcasters to adopt ITUNES
TAGGING.
