I've got a red face on this one......According to my calendar at work it was
an annular eclipse.....found out otherwise in talking to some friends and
doing some checking...last time I trust that calendar for anything other
than the date.....

Actually, it wasn't a "total". It was what's called an "annular". An
annular happens when the distances and angles don't match up precisely and
a ring of the uneclipsed moon peaks around the edges of earth's shadow.

There shouldn't have been--now if it had been a Solar Eclipse, where the
sun's radiation was blocked from the earth, you could have seen changes
in
the ionosphere which could have been noticeable on SW. I've seen them
happen before, and it is amazing to have a band start to open up, close
up
as the ionosphere recovers after the eclipse is over, and then opens at
it's
normal time...

Here in the Lehigh Valley the weather cleared out after the earlier
dusting of snow.
I dragged my wife & kids outside to watch the moon go into total
shadow...alas, I don't think there any significant ionospheric
effects, however.
