Thanks Stuart. I found out the problem and the solution. I didn't use the X-packaging parameter = http://purl.org/net/sword-types/METSDSpaceSIP, and as you said DSpace wasn't able to understand what I was sending..

How are you performing the deposit? A deposit must send some HTTP headers to identify the package type - the error message suggests that these might not being sent correctly, which means that DSpace doesn't know how to treat the package. Could you tell us how you are making the deposit? (what client are you using, what parameters are you sending, etc).
