For what its worth, over the past couple of weeks, I've been getting completely hooked on Ruby. Nice clean OO syntax, works with some of the features of perl to which I am addicted (e.g. the =~ operator) and is pretty easy to learn if you are already familiar with perl, awk or sh. As a former perl addict (and module developer) I'm rapidly moving "programming perl" to the top shelf and keeping ruby in a nutshell in front of me.
