Barry - I remember some discussion on the BT mailing list a little while back regarding linked verses.  There should be a way to work through it on all of the front-ends.  I believe they did a string comparison to see if the two returns were equal and if they were, then they did not include the second version of the string.  As the move towards multiple versification schemes this will probably become a more critical issue to support, would it not?

Hi there ...........

I've been checking out the Linux frontends alongside BibleCS for various
features.  I note that GnomeSword and BibleDesktop do not handle 'linked
verses' properly.  All the other frontends seem to work OK with these.
I mention this, because I am at present negotiating with the copyright
holder for the JB Phillips New Testament.  If this is successful, we
will be adding a version which makes heavy use of linked verses.

As an example, the Phillips version has verses one to eighteen of Matt 1
as a block with no verse breaks.  Most chapters contain blocks of at
least six verses.  This is done to increase the readibility, and it
would not be proper to alter this feature.  Chris Little told me some
years ago that the proper way to handle this feature was by linking
verses, and the Phillips module I have here uses that method.

It hasn't been a problem so far as I don't think any of the modules
currently on offer use linking - am I right?

I am hopeful that we may find a way of offering the Phillips module,
although negotiations are at a very early stage so far.  Please keep
this in prayer.

God bless,
Barry
