While I was in Seminary (98-00), I never got into using software that much for exegesis. The software that could do adequate exegetical work was well out of my price range. And, maybe it's simply my personality, but I've never been able to do significant exegetical work with a computer. It may also be the level at which I work with original languages now, which isn't too deep. Those who rely heavily on them use software pretty heavily. I can recall instances where professors using the Accordance package for Mac would search on a specific case followed by a particular verb, or particular pointings, tenses, etc in Hebrew. I'm not at that level.
To answer the other question, no we weren't taught to use computers a great deal either.
