Additionally there is 1.6.5.1 packaged for (K)ubuntu which is quite
important because the officially packaged version is horribly broken.

Probably our Qt-only cross-platform release, hopefully at the end of
this year, will start with number 2.

The KDE4 release will be 1.7. I haven't heard any other KDE news than
what has been told some time ago that KDE 4.1 (July/August) would be
cross-platform.
