Doesn't David have shell access to crosswire.org? If he does, he can FTP them from ebible.org to crosswire.org (hopefully with no proxy in the way), and then scp or sftp them from there to his home machine. Failing that, some web proxies either don't proxy, or make themselves very visible, if you use https:// rather than FTP or http. Have you tried making the archive at ebible.org accessible over https for David?
