Hi all,
A lot of people are asking on forum and other media about when will be
available the next release of SWTBot with support for Juno.
Current status of Juno support is here:
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=385527 . As you'll see
there are still some issues, so the migration is not "done" in my
opinion. However it looks like the bugs currently open for Juno don't
meet a lot of enthusiasm from SWTBot contributors (including myself)
since they are not critical and don't seem to be a requirement for
SWTBot to be usable now.
So in order to give to the community the heartbeat it's asking, we could
make a release of the current status of SWTBot. It will include some
Juno fixes and the Test Recorder & Generator. Hopefully this release
will bring more interest from new contributors on the remaining bugs,
and those bugs will be fixed for a maintenance release.
What do you think about this idea?
My vote:
I'm not that comfortable with the idea of releasing something that we
know has 2 (minor) bugs, but I'm also not comfortable at all with the
idea that community has asked for a release for a long time. Overall,
there is no regression, some fixes and a cool new feature; I think we
can ignore those few remaining bugs and drive a release with the current
state of SWTBot. So +1.
