Philo Agora's talk Tuesday, June 24 will be Joffre Balce : The Art
of War: Sun Tzu vs. Niccolo Machiavelli.
War is fought for a purpose, applies universal principles & has a
respect for wisdom, even if it applies violence in th euse of that
wisdom. Violence has a philosophy. Many politicians, economists,
diplomats, businessmen & soldiers simply call that philosophy, war.
To defend ourselves from war & violence, one must understand its
essence & nature better.
Joffre is an economist who has worked in the Philippines, Malaysia,
China, USA & Germany. His interest in philosophy was
developed through a Bachelor of Arts at the Ateneo de Manila
University. He has lectured on the history of economic thought at the
University of Asia & the Pacific, where he obtained a Master of
Science in Industrial Economics. He is currently working on his PhD.
