A weekend conference entitled ‘Reasons and Belief-Desire Psychology – Under
Review’ is to be held on campus at the University Sydney, Saturday July 10th –
Sunday July 11th 2010. The conference is sponsored by an ARC Grant held by
Professors David Braddon-Mitchell and Frank Jackson.
The conference immediately follows the annual AAP conference, which is to he
held at the University of New South Wales, the last day of which is July 9th
2010.
Speakers at the weekend conference include Pamela Hieronymi (UCLA), Frank
Jackson (Princeton/La Trobe), Karen Jones (Melbourne), Peter Menzies
(Macquarie), Philip Pettit (Princeton/Sydney), Nishi Shah (Amherst), Julia
Tanney (Kent), and Stephen White (Tufts).
Issues under review at the conference include the following: reasons and
causes, dispositions, explanations of action and the ‘Standard View’, practical
reason and normativity, reasons and Humean moral psychology, internal and
external reasons, epistemology and the theory of action.
