Chance in a branching world?
If the world contains a branching structure in the future, with many
physically possible outcomes happening on distinct 'branches', would
there exist anything like objective chance? The Everettian
interpretation of quantum mechanics, which closely resembles this
branching metaphor, has recently been defended by a number of writers
who claim that an Everettian world would contain chances -- or at
least something near enough to chances. In this paper I critically
survey these claims. (No knowledge of quantum physics required!)
