Dear Sydphil list subscribers,

This is just a gentle reminder that philosophy department seminars, reading
groups, and the like in the greater Sydney region can and should be advertised
on Sydphil. They should not be posted on Aphil as well (as many people have
been doing lately). It is appropriate to post bigger events such as national
and international conferences on Aphil as well, because these may be of
interest to, and attract, a wider audience. But advertising local Sydney
departmental seminars on Aphil amounts to abuse of this list. The Aphil list is
supposed to be for items of interest to the wider Australasian philosophical
community, and it is understood that local departmental seminars do not warrant
Aphil posting. Sydphil is the appropriate place to advertise these local events
and, indeed, was the reason for setting up the Sydphil list.

I hope this clears up any confusion about the purposes of the lists and helps
prevent future inappropriate postings. Thanks for your cooperation.

Cheers,
Mark
