Throughout history, evil has often been attributed to imaginary & real
individuals, groups & institutions - who, after being confronted &
eliminated, are simply replaced by new evils & new victims on top of some of
the old. Given the failure of "demonization" -- the characterization of
individuals, groups, or political bodies as evil -- to achieve the promised
good, the discussion will assume a phenomenological approach in order to
identify the essence of evil in the context of history and from a Taoist
perspective concerned more with the process (hows) & rationale (whys) than
with people (whos) or objects (whats).
