This Tuesday, 7th June - Samuel Alexander discusses his Melancholic Nostalgia for the Future.
.This talk is a discourse on the philosophy of the past, present and future with particular reference to Fernando Pessoas, The Book of Disquiet. There will be copies of the book for sale on the night!
Sam postulates that you should not live in memory or anticipation, but in the moment. This is not to say that you treat the day with reckless abandon, as the memory of your day is the dividend on how you have lived that day, whilst the future is the portent of this same day.
Sam Alexander is a founding member of Philo Agora and is currently one of the three convenors. He holds degrees in Divinity and Theology from Sydney University but still assumes the persona of an old PMG telephone technician
