At the next SHAPE meeting this Friday Sept 23rd Prof. Peg Birmingham (De
Paul) will present a talk on Arendt and the problem of political
immortality, focusing on Arendt¹s conception of history.

Prof Birmingham (De Paul University) is the author of Hannah Arendt and
Human Rights (Indiana University Press, 2006) and co-editor (with Philippe
van Haute) of Dissensus Communis: Between Ethics and Politics (Koros 1995).
She is currently working on a manuscript tentatively titled "A Lying World
Order: Deception as a Philosophical and Political Problem."

Time: Fri, 23rd Sept, 10.30am
Room: S441, Main Quad (since the Philosophy Common Room is out of
commission).
