Hi, of course this would work on shared hosting as well, why wouldn't it? The solution has absolutely nothing to do with reading files via console once you are on the server. It's a bout serving the debug output to customers. It as as secure on console as without. However I assume that shared hosting is set up initially in a way that others have very limited read access on you files.
