I posted a while ago that the cache, session and i18n should really be
refactored to have common storage engines that could be used for any of
them.
The existing system requires repeated config settings in separate
sections, little reuse (session can use existing Propel/Doctrine
connections, session allows custom db schema whereas i18n doesn't) and
doesn't allow for much in the way of optimisation.
I've started putting something together but am loath to put a ton of
effort in if ultimately it's gonna get rejected (hence the request for
feedback).
