Dear list,

With symfony releases changing rapidly, every release a large number
of the plugins become uninstallable because the maintainers are either
not aware of the bump or do not have the time to test their plugins.

A culprit could be the lack of a clear path for casual users to report
issues or communicate directly with plugin owners. Integration between
the plugin system and trac is difficult due to trac's simplistic
approach. Details such as being unable to confirm that a developers
plugin username matches their trac username because of no central
userlist on trac makes the process seem uncollaborated. It would seem
worth a discussion on the feasibility of moving the plugins folder out
of the symfony svn tree to it's own project management system such as
Lighthouse or Github which offer far more flexibility for the
community to report issues, interact with plugin developers and to
fork and modify plugins.

Many developers are undoubtedly hacking existing plugins to get them
to work for their current versions of symfony, and if the development
playground was more community focused developers may be encouraged to
share their forked code. If nothing else, a clear path for casual
users to report plugin issues to owners needs to be outlined, and
encouraged.

Kind Regards,
