Hi list,
As a complete sf beginner, I'd /much /prefer the best practices route --
it's the reason I'm interested in learning sf2 in the first place (if I
thought quick learning and speedy hacking was so great, I'd stick with
my current setup!).
Any developer able to figure out sf2 in the first place, is going to
have a bringing a certain amount of dev savvy to the table -- I don't
think that the Twig/XML/etc part of the learning process will make that
much of a difference. The area that *will* make a big difference to
someone trying to learn sf2 will be by providing a set of super clean
documents and getting started (or solving a specific need) tutorials.
My 2 cents :-)

My feeling about this is the same as the issue with the default template
language to use. The default should not necessarily be about what is the best,
but what is the easiest and fastest to get started with. YAML in my opinion
should be the default. But for me personally, I will likely use XML.
so what should be the standard for bundles? should bundles, that we all want to
use use the beginner friendly approach? php for templates, php for
configuration maybe a few annotations for quick short controller and route
setup?
or should bundles default to being useful for experienced developers using best
practices?
if bundles also focus on beginners will we not be loosing seasoned devs who get
tired of fixing bundles to work for big projects.
if instead bundles use the best practices, what do we gain for beginners by
making the core defaults incompatible?
imho we should offer a beginner config bundle that they use at the start of a
tutorial but that we remove towards the end.
