I think it's more to do with the fact that most of us have never used Git before. I'm sure we'll get better at it eventually. :)
Symfony2 is such a huge departure from 1 that sometimes it feels like the only similarity is the name! It's all very interesting though, with lots to learn, even thought it's overwhelming at times.
