Although having an API sounds like a great idea, it may be too much
complexity, for too little a gain. Symfony2 has already taken leaps
toward massive complexity - for the sake of "flexibility".
Making symfony so complex means that it becomes unsuitable for 95% of
projects.
Why is it complex ? these interfaces still exist in the components. the
point is moving them to a dedicated namespace to be able to use them in
the components without adding the component as a dependency for someone
willing to use its own implementation.
For users of the framework there is no real change. The goal is making
the component easier to use standalone.
