I can understand that... if I wasn't lucky enough to live in the town
where it has been for the past few years, I doubt my employer would be
interesting in playing for the very high conference cost AND the
travel expenses.

I was pretty surprised last year not to hear a single peep about
symfony at the conference.  OSCON has TONS of coverage of frameworks
-- there were sessions on Rails, Django, Seaside, Jifty, and surely
several others I have forgotten... but no symfony.  This year looks to
be the same so far.  Next year I may have to submit a talk on symfony
myself just to get the word out.  :-)
