Hi I'm a big fan of standards compliance, and have been working with
Symfony to create a new Web application.

I've already written my own prototypeal form validation / Ajax classes
to help with form validation as the inbuilt Symfony AJAX functionality
although quick for prototyping, isn't standards complaint ( The
default symfony ajax helpers use document.write to add ajax'ed buttons
which is completely disgusting for clean standards compliant code).

My new standards problems arise when including the form validation
helpers (e.g. form_error('fieldname') ) outputs a div with a style of
display:none; - this of course is an ugly way of hiding a div, and
defeats the purposes of trying to keep a web page standards complaint.
(I'm aiming for a 1.1 xml doctype)

Not including the form helpers isn't going to help either because I
need the server side validation and I also want clean and excellent
code for everything.

Is there another way, short of writing my own server side form
handling system which can help me with (server side) standards
complaint form validation, I'm not too sure what to do.

Any Ideas?
