What you are saying is the same as saying to do not use Symfony for mission critical projects. It is only yet another FUD about Propel being so bad and Doctrine so good. Doctrine is good, but it is not ready. That does not mean propel is not usable. Propel is more than usable, it is stable. Not damned fast, not as shiny as some would like but it works and that's all many expect from it.
