I can't believe that any sfPlugin isn't going to be as full-featured
as one of the stand alone forum packages out there, but perhaps it
depends on how big your audience is going to be. My site after a year
has more than 1 million posts and around 125k registered users. So,
I'm glad we went with VBulletin, which actually has a small fee for
purchasing. But, the user and community support for styling and
extensions are priceless.

As far as integration goes, I found a small library for Drupal VB
integration, and changed the methods to use symfony DB query
functions. Pretty easy.
