So,... there's no "release" of sfDoctrineGuardPlugin … but there IS a 1.2 branch in the repository http://svn.symfony-project.com/plugins/sfDoctrineGuardPlugin/branches/1.2/ as opposed to the "who knows what's checked in today" active branch http://svn.symfony-project.com/plugins/sfDoctrineGuardPlugin/trunk ?
