Ah, this is a problem in itself. My client want to have mailto links with subject in the url to appear in users' mail programm like: mailto:foobar.com?subject=This is a test This works but the mail_to helper it self does a bad job by escaping the parameter with urlencode, so non ansii get escaped correctly but the whitespaces do not: mailto:foobar.com?subject=This+is+a+test I dont want to modify the mail_to helper nor replicate it but using rawurlencode would correctly escape the whitspaces into %20
