Hi,

i prefer Macports for my server software on OS X;
here are two tutorials howto install macports & apache2 & etc.

http://forums.macnn.com/79/developer-center/322362/tutorial-installing-apache-2-php-5-a/
http://2tbsp.com/content/install_apache_2_and_php_5_macports

via macports it is possible to install pear, and with pear you have
symfony too.
if you only want to use the sandbox then MAMP is also a good advice
for it.

when you decide to use macports -> install subversion also :) (just a
hint)
