Dear all, We were aiming to use and eventually improve an existing Symfony plugin to implement online PayPal payment for one of our customers. After searching in the plugin repository, we were kind of puzzled...
http://www.symfony-project.org/plugins/sfPayPalPlugin http://www.symfony-project.org/plugins/sfPaypalDirectPlugin http://www.symfony-project.org/plugins/sfPaypalPaymentsPlugin http://www.symfony-project.org/plugins/sfPaypalLitePlugin None of these plugins looks finalized nor fully working. Most of them are just empty shells. There was an interested thread on the subject in December ( http://groups.google.com/group/symfony-users/browse_thread/thread/520db466889357eb) where Lee said that he was in the process of reviewing PayPal and Google Checkout plugins. I didn't get anything new on this since that time. Lee, if you are reading, that would be lovely if you could update us on your plans. In addition, it looks like there are also dead/no-longer-active proposals on the Zend Framework ( http://framework.zend.com/wiki/display/ZFPROP/Zend_Service_PayPal+-+A.J.+Brown, http://framework.zend.com/wiki/display/ZFPROP/Zend_Service_Payment). Depending on the outcomes of this discussion, we might well start developing a new PayPal payment plugin, however, to avoid creating one out of many other empty shells / unmaintained plugins, I think it is critical to join forces on that kind of development. As a reminder, Fabien said recently : "We are facing a big challenge here, as the quality of a plugin cannot be determined easily." ( http://www.symfony-project.org/blog/2009/04/07/tell-us-the-plugins-you-use). I think this particular case is an illustration of this quotation. Thank you for your contributions.
