this is because the sfAssets solution is for the version 2 of
tinyMCE...
but, as you said, with a little effort you can make it work straight
with the third version.
Anyway, in a recent project, I managed to have a "static images"
backend module, that serves also as a selector for tinyMCE. With a
little effort too...
sfAssetsLibraryPlugin is really a good value. A little messy, but
really really useful.
