Well the point in the tutorial where it tells you to try and connect it to the database is right after having made the project and an application. So all it has is the place holder 'Symfony Project Created' page. (http://www.symfony-project.org/jobeet/1_4/Doctrine/en/01) That does work through a browser. I'm not sure whether you mean if I was able to access any models or the database from a web browser. I haven't done any of that.
Also I forgot to mention, in phpinfo(), there's some bits that may help. The PDO drivers that are supported on the PHP that's installed are mysql, sqlite and sqlsrv. In the configure command, the "--without-mssql" and "--without-pdo-mssql" are two of the options. I don't know if its supposed to be like that on Windows or how to reconfigure that or if I'll have to reinstall PHP to reconfigure it.
