dsolve does not recognize certain linear first order ODEs which it is able to solve. For example, no problems occur when solving diff(f(x),x)+(1+sin(x))*f(x) however, expanding this to diff(f(x),x)+f(x)+sin(x)*f(x) causes a "Cannot solve" error. Similar problems occur when multiplying the entire DE by a constant.
